Talk about one of a kind...

Some guys were giving their Major a sendoff party because he was retiring from the Corps. They wanted something special. I was able to come up with it.

This one is approximately 9" x 12" x 1" deep, and made of a really interesting piece of quilted heart Redwood, something I don't see much of. But that was just the beginning of this creation.

Next came the lid insert. They wanted a tank on it. Okay, no problem, but they wanted the emblem, too. And a dedication. Now we're talking custom. I got a picture of the Abrams tank, a Corps emblem, and then what they wanted to say all together on the lid insert, which was a piece of Kobe leather. It took a while, but the Major ended up with a priceless collectable -- one that would remind him of his days in the hatch and the fine men whose respect he'd earned.

Don't know why I'm admitting this, but if you look closely, you'll see the alternative spelling to a very important word in Corps syntax. I'm sure they had a good laugh at the civilian puke that didn't notice it was spelled wrong. And yes, I fixed it... for free.
