This girl loves her daddy. That's why I got the call.
This particular humidor is a travel model. The lower frame and lid is constructed of wavy-grained American black Walnut, a hard, beautiful wood. The lid is a beautiful piece of wavy-grained Hawaiian Koa. As in other humidors I've made, I had to split and reglue a piece of Koa to get the overall width I needed to make up the lid insert. A really good piece of this wood has gotton very hard to find recently. Overall dimensions are approximately eight and one-half by eleven by three and one-half inches high. It was just the size he needed.
As in most of the humidors I build, this one is coated with "long oil" spar varnish, with a topping coat of "short oil" restoration varnish. It's been hand-rubbed to a glossy sheen. The humidifier pad is built right into the bottom and, of course, you never have to open the humidor to check the humidity inside. It's right on the lid!
