After thirty years on the force, you deserve to treat yourself once in a while. The man smokes great cigars. Consequently, he wanted something unique to store them in.
This particular humidor is the eight inch diameter upright model. The upper and lower frame is constructed of wavy-grained Redwood; a rarity in itself. But the lid insert... it's solid Walnut burl. And the "handle"? Is this an outstanding idea or what? He wanted his badge incorporated in the humidor somehow, but wasn't sure how. So I made the suggestion that it be the handle. So his badge not only serves as a focal point on the humidor, but it serves as the pickup point for the cigars in addition to being a "key" to accessing the storage compartment in the lid.
He has a humidor like no other in the world -- not even close. With the built-in humidifier in the bottom, the UV-rated cast acrylic side, and the Spanish Cedar lid liner and liftout tray, he's acquired both a conversation piece as well as the best cigar storage unit available in an upright design.
